Mrs. Kiernan read the resolution into the record that would appoint Mr. Peter Giarrizzo as the next Superintendent of the Pelham Schools.
WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Pelham Union Free School District seeks to appoint Mr. Peter Giarrizzo as Superintendent of Schools for the School District and to approve an Employment Agreement setting forth the terms and conditions under which Mr. Giarrizzo will be employed; BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Pelham Union Free School District hereby conditionally appoints Mr. Giarrizzo to the position of Superintendent of Schools for a three (3) year term to commence July 1, 2013 and ending June 30, 2016, subject to and contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the fingerprinting process required by the New York State Education Law; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education hereby approves an Employment Agreement with Mr. Giarrizzo dated January 28, 2013 setting forth the terms and conditions of employment under which Mr. Giarrizzo will serve as Superintendent of Schools during the aforementioned term, with an annual salary for the first year of the Agreement to be $230,000.00, and hereby authorizes the President of the Board to execute same, subject to the conditions set forth above; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the prior appointment of Mr. Giarrizzo to serve as Assistant Superintendent is terminated effective July 1, 2013.
Mr. Giarrizzo acknowledged the Board, thanked the public for coming and thanked Chartwells for the wonderful food at the reception that was held just before the evening's meeting. Mr. Giarrizzo presented each of the Board Members with a small token of his appreciation and briefly expained, with humor, the items left at their places. He then formally addressed the Board and the community. Dr. Richard Limato, representing the Pelham Administrators, paid tribute to Mr. Giarrizzo on his appointment. Mrs. Kiernan warmly welcomed Mr. Giarrizzo's family to the meeting.
